Nature Portraits
Capturing the Essence of
Your Special Place in Nature
Do you have a cherished place in nature
that you would like transformed into a
painting?
Many of us have a place to which we are
particularly connected; it may be the
land we live on, the lake where we grew
up, a favorite vacation spot in the
mountains or at the ocean.
Wherever your place may be, it brings me great joy to make a painting for you that honors that
place and your connection to it. I believe our connection to nature is our greatest strength, and
enhancing that connection through a painting is particularly powerful.
How It Works
First, please look over my website so that you have a good idea of my style and focus. My work is vibrant and colorful, and commands attention. My favorite description of it was made by my 4-year-old friend, Piper. She said, "It's like nature but with more magic."
If you are interested in a Nature Portrait, you can contact me now to schedule a consultation.
After that, there are three steps to the process:
1. During our consultation, we'll spend some time talking about your special place, why you love it, and what you might like in a painting. This will help me connect to your place, inspire the painting, and let us get to know one another a bit.
2. Then we'll determine if onsite work is desired and, based on a site visit or photographs, I will suggest a format and size for your piece. I will also give you a rough timeline.
3. I will begin painting. Once the painting is nearly complete, I will send you a digital image, or invite you to my studio to view it. You will have the opportunity to suggest changes and help me fine-tune the painting so that it is as close to what you desire as possible.
The Details
For an original oil painting on canvas, prices range from $500 for a 16" x 16" to $3,200 for a
40" x 40." I can also paint larger, and many sizes and formats are possible. Nature Portraits generally take one to two months to complete and require a 50% deposit to begin. As with all my work, I am open to payment plans.

Praise...
"Jill Mahanna is clearly called to translate nature into her own beautiful expression, through paint. Her colors and paint stroke style add a twist of emotion and personality to the landscapes that compliment what Mother Nature intended. She is enthusiastic and passionate and wonderful to work with! She captured our "Mama Madrone" tree in a large scale showpiece painting that we proudly hang in our shop as its namesake. We had a deadline for our shop's grand opening that was accomplished without worry or stress! "
~Kristin Welch, Mama Madrone's eco-emporium
"Jill Mahanna is my favorite local artist. I've purchased seven of her paintings, big and small, and proudly display them in my home and work. Her work excites me with its flowing color and evocative energy in bold strokes. At the same time, I feel the peace of the foothills in her paintings. And Jill, besides being a very pleasant and interesting person, is consistently reliable in her business dealing, a delight to work with."
~Marilyn Chrisman, Avanguardia Winery
